Facing the Pacific Ocean, this impressively huge garden draws in large numbers of visitors throughout the year. Its most popular season falls in the springtime (mid-April onwards), as the renowned blue nemophila flowers (RuriKarakusa in Japanese) come into full bloom. The gorgeous sight of the blue flowers blending in with the blue sky and sea is one you would not want to miss.
During Autumn, visitors flock here to catch a glimpse of the bright red kochia bushes while daffodils, tulips, sunflowers and oil-seed rape blossoms take turns delighting sightseers at other times of the year. Besides the vast flower fields, the Hitachi Seaside Park houses a small amusement park featuring more than 25 rides and attractions.
To get to Hitachi Seaside Park by bus, take a 15 minutes bus ride from Katsuta Station to Seaside Park Nishiguchi (West Gate). You can also rent a bike from Omotemachi Parking Tamriba and cycle 30 minutes to the Park (Advance booking required.)
